Sabyasachi Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2016

Before we draw the curtain on this year, lets have a look at Sabyasachi's winter festive collection !

This intricately crafted collection was an amalgamation of fur and exquisite handwork with metallic fringes and what not. The pieces were not only limited to sarees, there were beautiful shift dresses, kaftans and velvet ensembles. The menswear collection truly announced the presence of florals yet again.
Combined with the music by Symphony Orchestra Of India, the ramp was an ode to the creativity of Indian traditions.

Is there any wedding that can happen without the bride asking for a sabya outfit or a sabya style outfit ? Well, in our experience, NO !!

Runway To Reality : How to get the Runway trends in a Budget

Before the dawn of 2016, lets give you the insider tips on how to spruce up the runway.

Its time to make a run to your favourite fabric store and get your hands on your favorite kind of silks and brocades.

#insider trend 1: Dupatta that speaks for itself
Invest in a dupatta and go with a monochrome ensemble to compliment that.

Inspired by the diva herself: Sonam Kapoor in Gaurang

#insider trend 2: No fuss power
Choose any fabric in a vibrant colour, get them made into a pair of cropped trousers or wide leg pants.
Add on a shirt or a jacket and that's pretty much it.
# insider trend 3: We all have a black shirt in our wardrobes. Rather than teaming them with plain old denims, you can always add that 'oomph' and pair them with a grey-gold brocade skirt.
Take a cue of inspiration from this Raw mango look.

#insider trend 4: Love for a Jacket

A silk dress and a fuchsia jacket is just what this winter needs. This look is gonna keep you warm and cozy, yet on your heels !

We love fabrics ! The unlimited amount of styles that one can create with them is absolutely amazing.

Wear the Runway : Handwoven Lehengas

With all the designers going gaga over these bewitching handloom lehengas, have you landed one of these beauties in you closet yet ?

This should come as no surprise that this season is all about the simplicity of fabric.
This is going to be a long journal, but for the very first edition, here are our favorite runway and celeb looks of this festive season.

Look 1: White and Gold

Our time honored tradition of the classic white and gold is number 1 on our list.
With a sheer dupatta, the drama is all there.
If you have a fervor of pearls, load them up in layers on a plain brocade or silk top and wrap the dupatta around you.
All ready to go

Look 2: Monochrome and Gold

For those who have a panachè for colors, go for a monochrome look in a warm color palette and a touch of dull gold weave.

Look 3: Soha or Sonam ?
Roseate Fuchsia
We love em both <3

If you love a bright color, then you must have a roseate toned hand woven lehenga. Add a gold top and vintage rubies with a organza or a french chiffon dupatta !
Definite winner

Look 4: Off the Runway

Whatever colors you fancy, be it a lovely charcoal grey with gold or a popping red, wear the look with a low and tight chignon bun and wrap your dupatta like a shawl and off you go.
Super simple and effortless.

Look 5: Drama Queen

We absolutely love a drama queen !
Nothing says couture more like a heritage lehenga. Invest in a multi color hand woven lehenga and a semi-sheer dupatta with oodles of pearls and rubies.
You can style it up with a short blouse/top or a gold shirt or a jacket, and can never go wrong.
This one is gonna stay with you forever.

If you don't want to go over budget and still want to pull these looks off, stay with us !
We are gonna cover that in our next post.

Winter Saree Editorial : Ekaya

With the winter season dawned upon us, did the traditional saree get any comfy ?

If not, here are our picks for the must have styles to make you stylish and warm while you rock all the winter weddings.

Featuring another label that lives and breathes in the beloved loom : @Ekaya !

Look 1: Dressed to kill

When @Archana Rao collaborated with Ekaya, a jacket wonder was suppose to happen.
These pictures are from their collaborative work, which we must say is a heart winner.
Team up any saree you have with a complimenting blazer and throw in a belt or two ! Voila : you are now dressed to kill <3

Look 2: The Traditional Route

Well, simple doesn't always has to be boring now ! does it ?
All you have to do to rock up your favorite handloom saree is to just throw in a few vintage accessories and our favorite messy chignon bun.
Or, add multiple layers to your ensemble: carry a dupatta and a jacket on top your saree.
Stylish and Warm

Look 3: Who love to dare

One of our favorite looks this season, simple and effortless white shirt with a conceptual handloom saree <3. A little messed up hair and of course oodles of jewelery.
Make a statement and rock it

With all the designers going on and about their interpretation of wearing our beloved handlooms, we are gonna select the key trends for you to follow, direct from the runway !

Lets start with @GaurangShah, a designer from Hyderabad, who has won over hearts by the chastity of his designs and a refreshing apprehension of colors.

Look1: Bright and Dim
Invest in a vibrant and colorful handloom odhni and team that up with a muted outfit. If you have a flair for flare, then this is the go to look for you !! We love it <3

Look 2: Time-honored pearly white and glitzy gold
Go for a monochrome look with an ivory and a gold palette and team that up with a voluptuous chignon bun. Can't really go wrong with this !

Look 3: Lets paint colors <3

Team up any handloom dupatta with a contrasting kalidaar ! To make it more interesting, keep the length go he kaliddar short and add more flare with a contrasting but complimenting sharara.
Certainly for those who like to make a statement !
